header-gazoo-article-960x400

Toyota GAZOO Racing New Zealand hosts the Castrol Toyota Racing Series (TRS) and the Toyota 86 Championship Series, New Zealand’s fastest racing categories. These races attract up-and-coming drivers from all around the globe and give young Kiwi talent a platform to make their mark in the world of racing.

On track for Formula One

Drivers competing in the Toyota Racing Series earn points which are needed to acquire a super license and drive in Formula One racing. Many Formula One drivers have taken the Toyota path to reach the pinnacle of motorsport, including Daniil Kyvat, Will Stevens, Lance Stroll, and Lando Norris.

Rising stars like Lucas Fecury, Brazilian Kart Champion in 2020 and runner-up in the popular ROK Cup USA Florida Winter Tour in 2021, are looking to Toyota and New Zealand as the next step in their career.” Fecury says TRS “is a great opportunity to develop even more my skill for next year”.

The road to the US Indycar championships

Indycar racing in the US is another road open to Toyota Racing Series drivers. Those who compete in all five rounds of the 2023 or 2024 Castrol Toyota Racing Series automatically qualify for a package that could help them become established in the Road to Indy programme.

"A significant number of high-quality drivers coming up through the ranks are targeting careers in the USA and ultimately a place in the NTT Indy Car Series," explains Nicolas Caillol, Toyota GAZOO Racing New Zealand Motorsport Manager.
