The Land Cruiser legend has been built from over 60 years of unmatched performance in the world’s toughest conditions, including everything New Zealand can throw at it.
With each generation of Land Cruiser, the legend grows. And with the Land Cruiser 200, Toyota has matched that tough reputation with premium elements to engineer the ultimate SUV.
The Land Cruiser 200’s mighty 4.5-litre twin turbo charged and intercooled diesel V8 engine will quickly get you on your way with 200kW of power.
There is plenty of torque in reserve with a massive 650Nm produced at only 1600rpm providing the muscle needed to tackle the best - and worst - of New Zealand’s natural terrain, or if you have something to tow.
The Land Cruiser’s six-speed automatic transmission is designed to handle high torque while remaining a smooth performer. A sequential shift mode allows the driver to select gears manually too.
Steering wheel controls allow the driver to access the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), Multi-Information Display (MID), audio volume and modes (you can choose between radio frequencies or an auxiliary device on which to listen to MP3 files).
The steering wheel controls also let you receive phone calls and scroll the display for a variety of up-to-date information.
The Land Cruiser 200 range is the perfect lifestyle vehicle for those that love getting out into the wilds of New Zealand, or enjoy hobbies that require towing something, such as a boat or horse float. The Land Cruiser 200 has an impressive max towing capacity of 3500kg (braked).
What’s more, once you get to your destination, the 200 VX and VX Limited’s split opening tail gate means you have somewhere to sit… with the top of the rear hatch providing shelter from the summer or winter elements.
Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) comes into play when starting up steep gradients, carefully managing braking to prevent rolling backwards when moving off.
Meanwhile the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS), which is standard on the VX Limited, optimally adjusts the front and rear stabiliser bars, helping to suppress body roll and give superior on road performance. Similarly wheel articulation has been improved for excellent off-road traction.
Both the Land Cruiser 200 VX and VX Limited feature Multi-Terrain Select. This advanced system offers six selectable terrain modes for everything from mud, to rocks, ruts and ridges.
The four camera Multi-Terrain Monitor gives you a much better view of your surroundings and help you through those testing situations too; you’ll find it indispensible in a tight squeeze.
CRAWL control acts as an ‘off road cruise control’, automatically applying additional power or braking to maintain a very low speed through the tough stuff. This means the driver can concentrate fully on steering through the tricky terrain ahead.
When the family is on board, have confidence they’re in safe hands. In addition to the raft of driving systems, the Land Cruiser 200 features a comprehensive range of active and passive safety features to keep you and your family safe on or off road.
Front, side, curtain shield and knee airbags, to protect the Land Cruiser 200 driver and front passenger, while front and second row occupants are protected with curtain shield air bags. Second row outer seat side airbags are also provided.
In the Land Cruiser 200 VX Limited, rear seat passengers can enjoy a break from the long journey thanks to screens in the back of the two front seats.
There are even wireless rear seat headphones that allow for a different audio track to be played to rear seat passengers. What does that mean? Well, front seat passengers can enjoy music or a radio channel while those in the second row can watch a DVD.
