Toyota Prius braking performance - modification announced

Toyota Prius Braking Performance - Modification announced

Toyota New Zealand confirmed today that the 3rd Generation Toyota Prius, released last year, would be modified to improve brake pedal 'feel'.

Paul Carroll, General Manager of After Sales for Toyota New Zealand, said that all 260 owners in New Zealand would be contacted and asked to call their dealer to allow updated software to be installed in their vehicle at no charge.

While we had no comments from New Zealand customers", said Mr Carroll, "some customers in the USA and Japan market had complained of a split second delay in pedal response under slippery road conditions when the ABS system activated. This software change will eliminate that delay and improve the driving experience for our customers."

Affected Prius owners will receive a letter from Toyota within the next two days and the change can be made at Toyota Dealers from the middle of next week.

Previous generations of Prius are not affected, however Toyota Japan is still investigating whether other hybrid Toyota or Lexus models are affected.
