The GR86 body may be lighter than ever to accommodate the larger engine, but make no mistake, this two-door sports car is an industry heavyweight boasting more power, torque and track-bred performance credentials to produce precision handling at all speeds without negating interior safety and comfort.

Unleash the beast

Pumping power and precision through the GR86’s veins is the 2.4-litre horizontally opposed boxer four cylinder dual VVT-i engine, generating more power and torque.

Beneath the GR86’s ridiculously good looks are pulse-raising improvements to lateral bending, torsional rigidity and significant weight reductions to accommodate the bigger engine for superior handling at all speeds. As for inside? Considerable features on the interior have been refined to improve passenger comfort, safety, connectivity and driver response.

Born on the track

Track-tested and conceptualised with the soul of a globally-recognised sports car, the GR86 packs in performance credentials to produce precision handling at all speeds without negating interior safety and comfort. Lateral bending has improved by approximately 60% and torsional rigidity enhancements sit around 50%. The front MacPherson strut and rear double-wishbone suspension coupled with the GR86’s low centre of gravity, lightweight stiff chassis, and exceptional balance makes for a fearless formula with adrenaline-inducing driving written all over it.

Size does matter

While the engineers have engaged in some weight-reduction techniques, they’ve doubled down on engine size, making way for the larger, more impressive 2.4-litre four-cylinder horizontally-opposed boxer engine.

More power to you

Put energy into motion, stat, with an increased maximum power output of 174kW (22 or more than the outgoing model) and reach top speeds faster.

Torque it up

Accelerate ahead with 250Nm of peak torque arriving at a substantially lower 3,700rpm (previously 6,400pm), and crush the 0-100km/h sprint in 6.4 seconds.

Unlimited fun on every run

Whether you’re here for a good time or a long time the GR86 has put passenger comfort on a pedestal. Ergonomically designed heated front seats feature a perforated leather and Ultrasuede trim for a palpable recline. Leather accents extend to the steering wheel, shift knob and park brake lever, while stainless steel scuff plates and aluminium sports pedals maintain an athletic aesthetic.

Bright young thing

GR86 has been updated with a modernised matrix grille design, larger side rocker mouldings and a ducktail-type rear boot lip. There are 10-spoke matte black 18” alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres for improved grip and performance. Plus, auto levelling bi-beam LED headlights with cleaners and steering response function, clearance lights, and daytime running lights for heightened visibility and head-turning ability.

Enjoy the convenience of a larger 8-inch touchscreen alongside six speakers, voice recognition and Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ connectivity via USB. A redesigned 7-inch colour combination meter with digital speedometer and multi-information display keeps vitals at a glance while you engage in your most connected GR86 drive yet.
