Toyota Builds on Corolla's Success with Facelifted Sedan

TOYOTA BUILDS ON COROLLA'S SUCCESS

WITH FACELIFTED SEDAN

Toyota has enhanced the sedan version of New Zealand's favourite car with a new, more sophisticated design, a higher quality interior and advanced, user-friendly equipment.

With specification improvements and a revised price position, the Corolla Sedan represents Toyota's core values of superior quality, driving pleasure and value for money.

Toyota New Zealand General Manager of Sales and Operations, Steve Prangnell said, "We're very pleased with the fresh new look of this facelift Corolla Sedan, and we're confident that the new Corolla sedan offers customers the right mix of style, specification and value"

The Corolla sedan is available in GX and GLX grades with a 1.8 litre petrol engine and 4-speed automatic transmission.

EXTERIOR

Corolla sedan's new front features a redesigned bumper, radiator grille and lower grille. This emphasises the car's low centre of gravity and driving stability. The new headlights further strengthen the Corolla's bold appearance.

At the rear, there are significant changes to the combination lamps, bumper and license plate garnish. This creates the impression of increased width, emphasising the Corolla's broad rear stance.

New to the facelift model are door mirrors with integrated side indicators.

Exclusive to the GLX model are new five spoke 16 inch alloy wheels, a redesigned rear spoiler, chrome rear garnish, and a smoked tint which has been added to the headlights, giving a sportier image.

Two new exterior colours have been added for the Corolla sedan: Tidal Blue and Blue Steel.

INTERIOR

Corolla Sedan's interior has also been improved, enhancing the quality feel and convenience of the model.

A new, flat bottomed steering wheel, finished in leather for the GLX, features a thicker, more comfortable grip. All models have controls for the audio on the steering wheel, while the GLX model adds controls for the newly available Bluetooth handsfree telephone system.

The combination meter design features a colour change from amber to white, and the instrument panel is now finished in a more sophisticated, brighter silver coating. The same high quality finish is also used on the centre console and door switch surrounds for the GLX model.

Both grades are available exclusively with a dark grey interior colour scheme. The GLX grade has newly upgraded seat fabrics and is available with optional leather seat trim.

The AM/FM/CD audio system hassix speakers and is now available with USB and 3.5mm AUX sockets for the connection of portable music devices. These jacks are located within the centre storage box, allowing for the secure storage of MP3 players while on the move.

For improved safety and convenience while on the road, the GLX model features a Bluetooth handsfree audio system. This lets the driver make or receive telephone calls when paired with a compatible mobile phone. It also means allows connection of a compatible Bluetooth MP3 player for hours of audio playback without cables.

All Corolla sedan models offer driver and passenger front, driver's knee, front seat side and front/rear curtain shield airbags. An Anti-lock System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA) is standard, as is Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRC).

The Toyota Corolla was the top-selling vehicle in 2009 and over 210,000 Corolla's have been sold in New Zealand since the first model was launched in 1969.

Adding to the appeal of this facelift model, the RRP for the GX grade has been reduced by $1,500 to $34,990, while the GLX is now $37,990, a reduction of $2,000.
