Special Edition Gives Corolla the Edge

SPECIAL EDITION GIVES COROLLA THE EDGE

Toyota has announced the release of two special edition versions of their Number One selling Corolla range.

Featuring both interior and exterior enhancements, the new Corolla 'Edge' delivers up to $4,200 worth of extra value compared to the Corolla GX versions on which they are based.

Toyota New Zealand General Manager of Sales and Operations, Steve Prangnell said, "We're excited to introduce the special edition Corolla 'Edge' into the market. They give our customers sporty styling and great value paired with Corolla's reputation for quality and reliability."

Only 30 units of the sedan 'Edge' will be offered, while 150 examples of the hatch model will be produced.

Exclusive to the Corolla hatch 'Edge' model are body coloured front and rear spoilers. Sourced from Europe, this body kit gives the special edition a unique, more aggressive look.

Both 'Edge' models sport 17 inch ten-spoke alloy wheels, 'Edge' branded floor mats front and rear, 'Edge' badging, and an upgraded audio system.

The six disc MP3/WMA compatible CD player incorporates USB and 3.5mm auxiliary input jacks as well as Bluetooth handsfree telephone compatibility and wireless audio streaming.

This lets you connect your portable MP3 player for hours of audio playback as well as a compatible Bluetooth capable mobile telephone for safely making or receiving phone calls while driving.

Unique to the Corolla sedan 'Edge' is a reversing camera. This provides a clear image for tricky reversing manoeuvres, displayed on the LED screen of the upgraded audio unit.

Both models are offered in Silver Pearl, Graphite and Wildfire, while the hatch adds Glacier White and Tidal Blue.

Both hatch and sedan models are fitted with a 100kW, 1.8 litre petrol engine and 4-speed automatic transmission.

All Corolla hatch and sedan models offer driver and passenger front, driver's knee, front seat side and front/rear curtain shield airbags. An Anti-lock System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA) is standard, as is Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRC).

The hatch model is offered at a recommended sales price of $34,990, while the sedan is recommended for sale at $33,490.

The Toyota Corolla was the top-selling vehicle in 2009 and over 210,000 Corolla's have been sold in New Zealand since the first model was launched in 1969.
