The Hilux BEV wasn't built to replace anything. It was built to do a specific job, in specific places, for businesses looking to lower operating costs and reduce emissions while retaining the practicality and capability expected of a Hilux. If that sounds like your operation, it probably is.
Overnight charging. Repeat daily routes. Well suited to local and regional operations where vehicles return to base each day. Quiet electric performance helps reduce driver fatigue throughout the working day.
The Hilux BEV uses eAxle technology to deliver power and traction to all four wheels. Built on the same reinforced ladder frame as conventional Hilux, with thicker side rails and underbody shielding to protect the battery and drivetrain in demanding conditions.
Electric AWD delivers progressive, predictable power across gravel, grass and uneven worksites. No lurching or hesitation here.
ECO, NORMAL and SPORT let you match power delivery to the conditions. Multi-Terrain Select handles the rest.
Wading depth is unchanged from conventional Hilux. It still goes where Hilux goes.
The Hilux BEV supports both AC and DC charging. A 3-phase wallbox charges from 10–100% in around five and a half hours. When speed matters, a compatible DC fast charger goes from 10–80% in as little as thirty minutes.
Plug into a standard power outlet at home or work, or install an optional wallbox charger, to recharge while you sleep.
On compatible chargers, replenish from approximately 10–80% in around 30 minutes when travelling further.
Regenerative braking captures energy while slowing down or going downhill, helping extend usable range.
You can't always control the conditions, but you can rest easy knowing the 5-Star ANCAP Hilux BEV is fitted with Toyota's Safety Sense package — designed to support you across the full range of situations a working ute typically encounters. On the road, on site, in traffic, and in reverse.
Pre-Collision System with motorcycle detection, Intersection Collision Avoidance, all-speed dynamic radar cruise control and more — standard on every variant.
If the driver becomes unresponsive, the system slows the vehicle to a stop and activates hazard lights. Standard across the Hilux BEV range.
Alerts the driver to vehicles in the blind zone, with Safe Exit Assist to help passengers prevent door-opening incidents in traffic.
Every new Hilux BEV comes with up to 5 years* of warranty cover with Toyota Service Advantage. The high-voltage battery capacity is protected for up to 8 years or 160,000km (subject to terms and conditions), providing long-term confidence in electric ownership. With nationwide servicing expertise and roadside assistance, support continues well beyond the purchase.
Every Toyota Genuine Accessory for the new‑generation Hilux is engineered and tested alongside the vehicle to ensure quality, safety and fit. Although these accessories aren’t currently displayed online, your local Toyota Store can help you explore the Genuine options available.
The Hilux BEV is built on the same reinforced ladder frame as the conventional Hilux. It maintains a 700mm wading depth, has underbody protection for the battery and drivetrain, and offers Multi-Terrain Select with settings for mud, sand, rock, dirt and more. It's designed for real New Zealand working environments — not just sealed roads.
Depending on the variant, Hilux BEV offers up to 315km* (NEDC) electric driving range. For most New Zealand drivers, this covers a couple of days of commuting and daily activities before needing to recharge. The Cab Chassis variant, carrying the additional weight of a tray is rated at 245km* (NEDC).
*NEDC is a lab standard. Real-world range will vary depending on load, terrain, speed and conditions. The Hilux BEV is best matched to operations with predictable daily distances and access to overnight charging.
Home charging is typically done overnight using a home charger. On compatible DC fast chargers , the battery can replenish from approximately 10% to 80% in around 30 minutes, depending on conditions.
* The stated minimum fast charging time of 30 minutes (10–80%) is based on a 59.2 kWh battery in ideal conditions using a DC fast charger at 25°C battery temperature. Actual charging times may vary depending on factors such as charger type, battery temperature, state of charge, and environmental conditions.
Yes. The Hilux BEV has a maximum braked towing capacity of 2,000kg (750kg unbraked). This is lower than the conventional diesel Hilux, and worth considering for applications involving heavier towing. For operations where towing loads of this capacity or less is the norm, it handles the job confidently.
Most business operators will find a 3-phase wallbox the most practical option as it charges the vehicle from 10–100% in approximately 5.5 hours, making overnight depot charging straightforward. A standard single-phase home wallbox takes around 8 hours for the same window. DC fast charging will take the battery from 10–80% in as little as 30 minutes and is available where compatible chargers are installed.
The high-voltage battery is covered for up to eight years or 160,000km (subject to conditions), alongside Toyota’s standard vehicle warranty.
