Toyota Certified has been named a Gold Winner in the Manufacturer Certified Used Car Sales category of the Reader's Digest 2027 Quality Service Awards. Based on feedback from more than 1,400 New Zealanders, the award recognises the customer experience provided through the purchase of a Toyota Certified used vehicle at Toyota Stores across the country.
Customer feedback showed people value having knowledgeable teams to guide them through the process, clear communication, and the peace of mind that comes with buying a used vehicle backed by Toyota. Andrew Davis, Chief Strategic Officer for Toyota New Zealand, says the success validates the hard work of the Toyota Store teams across the country.
"We know buying a used vehicle is a big decision. Customers want to feel confident in the vehicle they're choosing, but also in the people they're dealing with and the process behind it. Toyota Certified provides that foundation, but it's our Toyota Store teams that bring it to life every day.
"This result is a testament to the work happening across our Store network and the effort our teams put into delivering a consistent customer experience for every customer who walks through the door."
Toyota Certified is Toyota New Zealand's quality-assured used vehicle programme, offering thoroughly inspected vehicles backed by a warranty and roadside assistance. Rebranded from Toyota Signature Class in November 2025, this is the first Reader's Digest Quality Service Award won under the Toyota Certified name.
With more than four million vehicles on New Zealand roads today, Andrew says programmes like Toyota Certified help more Kiwis access safe and reliable transport.
"New Zealanders are heavily reliant on motor vehicles every day and for many, a safe and reliable used vehicle is the most practical option for getting to work or taking the kids to school. That's why it's so important that customers can trust the vehicle they're buying and the standards it needs to meet.
"Listening to customers is an important part of maintaining those standards. Feedback helps us understand what's working, where opportunities exist, and how we can continue improving the experience we deliver."
Established in 2015, the Reader's Digest Quality Service Awards are based on independent consumer research conducted by Catalyst Research. The survey asks consumers to evaluate organisations across five key customer service pillars: personalisation, understanding, simplicity, satisfaction and consistency.
For Toyota New Zealand, the award reinforces the importance of continuing to deliver a high-quality customer experience across every stage of the ownership journey.
“We're incredibly proud of this achievement, but we’re not stopping here. We’ll continue working with our Store network to keep improving, keep listening, and keep looking for ways to make the Toyota Certified experience even better for our customers year after year.”
