Toyota to continue strong Government fleet association

TOYOTA TO CONTINUE STRONG

GOVERNMENT FLEET ASSOCIATION

Toyota New Zealand is delighted to be able to continue its position as a trusted supplier to the Government vehicle fleet with today's announcement of the first Passenger and Light Commercial Vehicle all-of-government contract.

Toyota is one of three currently contracted companies announced by Gerry Brownlee, Minister of Economic Development, and has a vehicle in 11 of the 12 categories - from small car to minibus - which make up the 18,000 fleet.

Toyota has been the leading supplier to the Government's vehicle fleet for more than 20 years - supplying about a third of all vehicles in that time. Its General Manager of Sales and Operations, Steve Prangnell, says the company can draw on a wealth of knowledge gained in that period to assist the Government's aim of increased efficiency and cost reduction.

"Price is important, but our tender document demonstrated Toyota's focus on a complete cost reduction solution, taking into account servicing, warranty costs, fuel consumption, emissions and resale value.

"Through the long-lasting relationship with government departments, Toyota has developed real insights into the specialist requirements. We can provide a vehicle for every need, including reliable famed workhorses such as the Corolla and Hilux.

"It is also pleasing that the future of motoring is represented in the Toyota vehicles selected by the Government, with the Prius and Hybrid Camry which are now a mainstay of corporate fleets and demonstrating real efficiencies for operators, along with environmental benefits."

Toyota has always had a dedicated account manager who specialises in ensuring government fleet managers receive the best possible service, and being the largest company in the country ensures a nationwide infrastructure to provide after sales assistance, says Steve Prangnell.
