Sharing Stories with Porirua School

At Rutherford & Bond and King Toyota, we're proud to support initiatives that help build strong connections within our local communities.

Earlier this year, we had the pleasure of donating books and musical instruments to our neighbour, Porirua School, to support their students and learning programmes. Alongside the shiny new items, Rutherford & Bond and King Toyota families also donated their pre-loved books, giving them a new home where they could be enjoyed by more young readers. Since then, members of our team have been visiting the school each month to spend time reading with the tamariki.

Our first visit was a rewarding afternoon, filled with stories, smiles, and plenty of enthusiasm. It was made even more special by a beautiful thank you song from the junior students, which was a lovely surprise for our team.

Since then, we've been welcomed back for more afternoons of reading, sharing stories, and spending time with the students. These visits have quickly become something our team looks forward to each month, and it's been great to see the students' excitement each time we visit.

As the team at Porirua School said, time is one of the best gifts you can give Tamariki – and we couldn’t agree more.
