Chris Amon Edition GT86
Toyota New Zealand has built on the driving pleasure of its 86 sports coupé with ten limited-edition ‘Chris Amon Edition’ GT86 available in a unique Solar Flare exterior colour.
Chris Amon, who passed away last year, was a vehicle development and motorsport consultant to Toyota New Zealand for more than 30 years after having once criticised the 1980 Corolla on national television. He was involved in local assembly until the late 1990s, and played a key role in Toyota’s international vehicle testing programme.
17-inch Anthracite Coloured Alloys
17” anthracite coloured 10 spoke alloy wheels enhance the 86’s sports pedigree. The thin-profile spokes underline the vehicle’s track-ready looks.
Honed look. Hotter handling.
The updated Brembo brakes provide greater stopping power, with 32 mm larger diameter and 6 mm wider ventilated discs at the front and 26 mm larger diameter and 2 mm wider rotors on the rear. The front four pot callipers provide 39 percent more braked surface than the brakes fitted to the standard 86. Improved grip, better cornering dynamics and enhanced responsiveness and stability are provided by the Sachs shock absorbers. The Chris Amon Edition GT86 is powered by a two litre “boxer” engine producing 152 kW and 212 Nm of torque.
Be aggressive
The low profile fender, Bi-Beam LED lights, automatic headlight levelling and LED Daytime Running Lights help signal an aggressively styled road presence.
Interior refinements
A driver’s display and steering wheel controls
The 4.2-inch colour Multi-information Display enables the instant display of information critical to sports driving enthusiasts, including G meter, torque curve and a lap counter/stopwatch. The MID and audio controls can also be changed from the steering wheel.
Attention to detail
Throughout the Amon Edition 86’s interior you’ll notice touches of class and attention to detail. For example, 'Grand Lux' pattern upholstery includes contrast orange stitching on the instrument panel ornamentation. The Alcantara® and leather accented sports front seats, steering wheel, gear shift, hand brake lever, door trim and dashboard all have the contrasting orange stitching. Not only does this look great, but it has a more practical purpose – suppressing the reflection of light from outside to prevent driver distraction.
Low stance
The low tip of the vehicle's nose as well as the wide grille emphasise the 86's low, wide stance. Nose fins enhance the vehicle's aerodynamics.
