The sleeker, sportier Camry is both exciting to look at and more importantly drive, re-establishing itself as the new standard in the mid-size sedan category.
There are advances. And then there are giant leaps forward. The Camry has redefined its design and engineering prowess with its latest iteration.
There are two “looks” for Camry with the GL including a horizontal front grille, while the V6 model has a sporty black mesh grille and large front air intakes. Both models include LED headlights and daytime running lights.
The V6 model comes with an aggressive sports body kit, a boot lip spoiler and 19-inch alloy wheels.
The sporty Camry 3.5-litre direct and port fuel injection V6 features paddle shifters for manual control. The V6 engine produces 224 kW and 362 Nm of torque, increases of 24 kW and 26 Nm respectively over the V6 used in the Aurion. The improved engine has direct injection technology with wide camshaft timing variation to improve torque across a wider rev range. In addition to the Otto Cycle, the engine uses the Atkinson cycle where appropriate to enhance fuel economy.
The price leading GL carries over the existing 2.5 litre petrol engine with 133 kW and a revised six speed automatic transmission that incorporates auto-blipping on the downshifts.
