The All Blacks and Black Ferns have teamed up with Toyota New Zealand to swap the rugby field for a different kind of challenge, putting the iconic Hilux through its paces in a new seven-part video series.
On Friday the series launched across Toyota New Zealand's digital channels. The series sees players take on a range of Hilux-inspired challenges designed to test their skill, teamwork and problem-solving abilities. The content combines friendly competition with unscripted moments, offering fans fun moments from some of the country’s well-known rugby players like Amy du Plessis, Kaipo Olsen-Baker, Ethan de Groot and Du'Plessis Kirifi.
Susanne Hardy, Assistant Vice President Marketing, Sustainability & Technology at Toyota New Zealand, says bringing together Hilux, the All Blacks and Black Ferns was a natural fit.
"Hilux and our national rugby teams have been part of New Zealand life for generations, earning a reputation for toughness, resilience and reliability along the way. There is strong crossover between rugby supporters and Hilux owners, so this series was an opportunity to do something a little bit different and fun in a way that still feels authentic."
New Zealand Rugby GM of Commercial Partnerships Gemma Brown says the series is a great example of how New Zealand Rugby and its partners can work together to deliver engaging content for fans across the country.
"This series is a great way for fans to see players from the All Blacks and Black Ferns have some fun in a different environment, and in a quintessential Kiwi way. The challenges bring out their competitive nature, but they also create some genuinely funny moments and show the bond that exists within our teams. It’s great to work with Toyota New Zealand on campaigns like this, and we can’t wait to see the response.”
The partnership between Toyota New Zealand and New Zealand Rugby began in 2025 when Toyota was appointed as the Official Mobility Partner for New Zealand Rugby. Hilux recently expanded its involvement in the game as naming rights partner of the National Provincial Championship, Farah Palmer Cup and Heartland Championship, further strengthening its connection with rugby communities from grassroots through to the professional game.
The first episode of the seven-part series launched on 7 August across Toyota New Zealand's Facebook and YouTube channels.
