Welcome to the 20th edition of Believe magazine.

To mark this milestone we have a number of articles that reflect the Believe Values that underpin Toyota’s operations in New Zealand.

We believe that every day is an opportunity to improve.

We explore some of the amazing advances in mobility that are coming over the next few years – they will be showcased at next year’s Olympic Summer Games in Tokyo.

We believe that if you can dream it, you can do it.

We highlight Dame Valerie Adams and the Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon under Toyota’s Olympic theme of ‘Start Your Impossible’.

We believe in trying to make a difference.

We are delighted that the world is finally waking up to the issues of climate change, after Joseph

Fourier first postulated the problems of greenhouse gases back in 1824. We feature one example of our efforts to make a difference to the environment. We preview the new CH-R self-charging electric hybrid, the latest in our range, which now constitutes more than 15% of all our sales.

We believe in going the extra mile.

Cam Calkoen continues to inspire us, and this year he really went the extra mile to climb Kilimanjaro!

We believe in working together.

We feature Toyota’s (and Lexus’) long-time friend, Murray Thom, who has worked with a variety of artists to create ‘The Offering.’ This is an amazing collaboration – not for reward but for good.

We believe in respecting others.

We have the utmost respect for parents and the responsibility they take for the future of our children, nation and planet. We have partnered with Parenting Place for about 15 years to support the important work it does with parents, teenagers and children. Its regular ‘How To’ column is on Dollars and Cents.

We believe a better tomorrow starts today.

We look at the launch of Emirates Team New Zealand’s yacht to defend the America’s Cup in 2021. We have been a supporter of Team New Zealand since 1992 – sticking with them through some heartbreak losses and three victories. At the end of the 2013 San Francisco loss (when we were up 8-1 and sadly lost to Oracle), it was this value (and a great song written for us by The Feelers) that kept us focused. Sure enough, a better tomorrow came in Bermuda in 2017 and we were able to bring the cup back to New Zealand.

We believe good things stand the test of time.

This magazine is now 20 issues and more than a decade old.

Thanks for reading and thanks for your custom.
