Toyota Avensis and Corolla recall

Toyota New Zealand is recalling 2,426 vehicles due to a concern with the airbag sensors. The affected models are Toyota Avensis and Toyota Corolla manufactured between 23rd September 2003 and 31st January 2007.

This is a precautionary recall due to the possibility that, in the event of a control module circuit failure, the airbag warning light could illuminate. It could also result in the airbags or seat belt pretensioners becoming deactivated, or inadvertently deploying, increasing the risk of an accident.

There are 1282 Toyota Avensis and 1144 Toyota Corolla New Zealand new vehicle models affected.

The remedy will be completed free of charge by Toyota stores and will take approximately 1 hour to complete.

Owners of the vehicles, which are traceable through registration data, will be contacted by Toyota New Zealand through a remedy owner letter.
