In light of recent news about Kobe Steel this is Toyota New Zealand's official statement:
“The safety of our customers is of utmost priority for us. As such we are working rapidly to identify which models and components may be affected and to what extent. At the same time we are considering what measures need to be put in place going forward.
In the interim we understand that for our products the material in question has been used in bonnets, rear doors and in areas peripheral to such.
Toyota policy requires suppliers to be thorough in matters of compliance and we recognise that this breach of these principles by a supplier is a serious matter.”
We will update our public statement to reflect any changes upon receipt of further information or clarification from Toyota Motor Corporation.
