Toyota New Zealand continues to work hard securing replacement parts for vehicles affected by the Takata airbag recall.
An additional 4,313 Corolla and 1,490 Yaris New Zealand new vehicles manufactured in 2009 have been included in the global Takata recall relating to concerns with the passenger side airbag inflator.
The latest expansion raises the total number of New Zealand new vehicles affected to 41,066 with a total number of vehicles affected at 113,804 including used vehicles.
For New Zealand vehicles affected by the Takata airbag recall, more than 22% (26,000) of owners have been advised that replacement airbag parts are now available.
The replacement airbag inflator will take 2.5 to 5 hours to install and will be replaced free of charge.
Toyota New Zealand is still investigating how many second hand imported vehicles might be affected by this expansion.
Toyota New Zealand is not aware of any faulty deployments in Toyota or Lexus vehicles associated with the global airbag recall.
