The All New Hilux – Off-road

When it comes to off-road capability, Hilux leads the way. Now the All New Hilux pushes it even further. Smart technologies like HAC, DAC and A-TRAC make working and weekend adventures easier than ever before.

Watch the All New Hilux take on the off-road, and you know this truck is something special.

For starters, the 4WD selector makes going off-road easy. All you have to do is turn the dial and you’re away. It’s also got Traction Control to help stop your wheels from slipping, and A-TRAC, which sends power to the wheel on the ground, not the one in the air. It’s like having a Limited Slip Differential on both the front and rear axles.

No spinning wheels

And when the going gets really tough, the all new Hilux has a rear diff lock so you can split the power to your rear wheels equally. This is great if one of your rear wheels starts spinning. Just push the button and it engages.

The All New Hilux also has HAC or Hill-start Assist Control, which is permanently on. If your vehicle starts sliding back on a hill, it briefly operates the brakes and stops you rolling backwards.

Then there’s DAC or Down-hill Assist Control, which is for descending when you’re already in 4WD mode. Activate the switch and DAC will reduce and hold your speed, so you can concentrate on steering through a tricky off-road section.

A strong truck is a good truck

The whole truck’s chassis is more rigid, so it handles really well. This is largely thanks to Toyota’s Advanced Frame Design, which is better than ever, with a huge amount of additional weld points on the body for increased rigidity and strength.

Overall, it’s a big ride improvement. Because the more rigid the chassis, the better it corners, and the more stable it is.

The truck’s tough underneath as well, with a thicker steel undercover for added protection. And of course the truck’s increased ground clearance makes off-roading easier too.

So there’s a quick look into the off-road capabilities of the all new Hilux. It’s always been great off-road, but the new design and technology takes it to a whole new level.
