New Toyota Highlander makes world debut

The covers came off the 2014 Toyota Highlander today at the New York Auto Show, revealing an all-new exterior conveying refinement and strength, complemented by a new, more spacious interior with an array of comfort, convenience and technology features.

Combining versatility, power and a premium feel across the range, the all-new third-generation Highlander will also make history when it arrives in New Zealand as the first US-manufactured Toyota model ever made available to Kiwis.

Toyota New Zealand General Manager of Product Planning, Neeraj Lala says, "The mid-size SUV segment is growing quickly in New Zealand: a reflection of the fact SUVs continue to prove popular with customers.

"With a fantastic new model that offers customers more performance, style and value, we expect the next generation Highlander to be the driving force behind the mid-size SUV segment in 2014."

Featuring a bolder silhouette, improved aerodynamics and sculptured side-door panels for a sophisticated and dynamic appearance, the new Highlander also boasts a slightly longer and wider exterior with a redesigned trapezoidal grille and wrap-around headlights, along with bold fenders and a newly designed rear tailgate.

Inside, the 2014 Highlander features improved refinement and functionality, with premium materials and fittings, including a soft-touch instrument panel, and easier access to third row seating.

The all-new Highlander range will be available at Toyota dealerships early next year. Further New Zealand specification details will be announced in the months ahead.
