Toyota's premium off-road vehicle, the Land Cruiser 200 Series, has been enhanced with a simplified line up, advanced new technology and additional features.
Toyota New Zealand has reduced the model line up from two grades to one, by removing the VX Limited and replacing that model with an option package.
The recommended retail price for the VX model has been reduced to $119,990 and extra features have been added as standard specification.
Roof rails, 18" alloy wheels, privacy glass, 3.5mm audio input jack and a USB port allowing full iPod control have been added. Combined with the newly available "CRAWL" technology for negotiating tough off-road situations, the Land Cruiser 200 VX model has significantly improved its specification levels to meet customer's demands for value and usability.
Toyota's CRAWL technology is an off road control system designed to help the driver navigate challenging terrain, such as rugged rocks, rubble, snow, mud, gravel and sand without using the accelerator or brakes. This allows the driver to concentrate on steering alone.
It operates in low range and the system in the Land Cruiser 200 has been specifically engineered for the 4.5 litre twin-turbo V8 diesel engine, replacing Downhill Assist Control.
Toyota New Zealand General Manager of Sales and Operations, Steve Prangnell said, "We are offering customers greater flexibility, with a streamlined model line-up and more option packages that equates to exceptional value. Customers can now customise a Land Cruiser 200 to suit their needs".
Power adjustable leather seats are available as an option, as is Toyota's exclusive Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS).
KDSS enables Land Cruiser 200 to enjoy two previously contradictory benefits; longer wheel articulation for the most challenging off road driving and the roll control needed for confident on road driving.
The new "Limited" package adds power adjustable leather seats, power glass sunroof, KDSS, a woodgrain style steering wheel, electrochromatic interior rear view mirror, four zone climate controlled air conditioning, cool box and second row side airbags.
For the first time in a Land Cruiser model, a rear seat entertainment system is also included in the "Limited" package, allowing rear seat passengers the flexibility to watch DVD movies or use portable game consoles.
A Land Cruiser VX fitted with the Limited package has seven seats while the standard VX model offers seating for eight.
The Land Cruiser 200 Series is powered by a 4.5L 195kW, 650Nm V8 twin turbo-diesel with a six-speed automatic transmission.
