Nieko Scoles took another Toyota 86 Trophy Series pole position today at the third round at Manfeild Circuit Chris Amon – but it was the performance of Marcel Bartley and Josh Hill behind that turned a few heads.

The two rookies, who have been mid-pack in the first two rounds, locked in solid performances in the qualifying session with Bartley taking the second spot on the front row alongside Scoles and Hill lining up third ahead series debutant Miles Baker.

Hampton Downs race winner Nathan Grammer had a good session for fifth on the grid alongside Riley Boswell, with the Winter Series leaders – on equal points – Toby Elmiger and Tayler Mitchell surprisingly far back in seventh and eighth.

Mark mallard and Mitch Vye line up ninth and tenth respectively for the first race of the weekend later today in what is set to be another closely fought contest.

Just one second covers the field and just three tenths cover the first seven of the grid, meaning it could be anyone’s race.
