Blincoe to make Australian debut in one-off GT4 prize weekend

Bridgestone GR86 Championship runner up Zach Blincoe is all set to make his Australian and Monochrome Australia GT4 debuts later this month.

Zach will step into the seat vacated by Chris White in the local Sydney-based GWR Australia team in its GR Supra GT4 EVO2 alongside Daniel Frougas for his prize-winning cameo at Sydney Motorsport Park over the weekend of September 18-20.

The youngster, who put together two great back-to-back seasons in the New Zealand Championship before finishing runner-up to White last season, is very much looking forward to both challenges.

“It’s certainly an amazing opportunity,” he said this week. “I have been talking to Chris and other drivers from NZ who have competed in the series like Hugo Allan for a few tips and advice ahead of the weekend.

“I’m really excited to be racing in Sydney – especially because I’ve never raced in Australia before. It’s going to be a pretty big step up as it’s an extremely talented field, but I’m excited to give it a go.

“I’m definitely going to soak up this unique opportunity, but the goal is to get the best result possible. Chris and Daniel managed to get a win earlier this year, so it would be pretty awesome to bring home a top-three finish.

“Obviously, I’ve never raced at Sydney Motorsport Park before, but I’ve seen quite a lot of footage and spent time on the sim - it looks like an awesome and fun track to drive, so I’m really happy that it’s the track I’ll be racing at.”

The Sydney round - the LIQUI MOLY GT Festival - is the penultimate weekend of the 2026 Monochrome GT4 Australia Series and that, according to GAZOO Racing New Zealand motorsport manager Nicolas Caillol, makes it an even tougher challenge.

“With teams and drivers settled it does make it tougher for Zach, but he is a very talented young driver who was very impressive in the GR86 Championship, and we know he will be very focused on doing as well as he can this weekend. Hopefully he will have a great time and will settle quickly into the car and show the field what we know he is capable of.”

Zach has now completed two days of testing with Frougas and the GWR crew ahead of his Australian and GT4 debut.
