Toyota Racing New Zealand has confirmed the 2016 Toyota Racing Series and the 2015-2016 Toyota Finance 86 Championship will be screened in New Zealand on TV3.

During the coming summer season of motorsport, TRS and the 86 Championship will be the focus of hour-long programmes screening as part of TV3’s CRC Motorsport programme on the Sunday after each round.

Toyota New Zealand Motorsport Manager Steve Boyce says the new agreement provides a strong free-to-air foundation of coverage in the New Zealand market, responding to demand from local motor racing fans.

“We are pleased to have secured this extensive coverage agreement with Mediaworks and we are excited by the prospect of bringing high quality coverage of premier-level motor racing to New Zealand motor racing fans,” Mr Boyce said.

With continuing strong international interest in TRS, the local coverage will be the basis of a package that will be screened in up to 80 other countries worldwide.

“That’s an important boost not only for the international drivers who come here but also for our young Kiwis – it puts them well and truly on the global motorsport map and gives them the very best chance of following the recent success of TRS graduates including Nick Cassidy, Mitch Evans, Earl Bamber, Brendon Hartley and Richie Stanaway,” Mr Boyce said.
