Das, Auer and Williams threaten Kiwi form

Practice 1 - (940 x450)

Marcus Armstrong set the pace in Thursday practice at the third round of the Castrol Toyota Racing Series at Hampton Downs Motorsport Park on Thursday, with rival Liam Lawson hot on his heels as half a second covered the top ten in the super competitive field.

Practice 2 produced the day's quickest times and America’s Cameron Das was third behind the two Kiwi locals and ahead of Australia’s Calan Williams with the third Kiwi Brendon Leitch up there in fourth. Consistently fast again was experienced Austrian racer Lucas Auer, who was quick in Practice 1 and was first under the 1 minute 1 second mark in Practice 2.

Japan's Kazuto Kotaka, who starts on pole position in Friday’s extra race, was seventh in Practice 2 and consistently in the top ten throughout both sessions.

Other notable performances during the day as the times tumbled came from Artem Petrov, Petr Ptacek, youngster Jackson Walls (inside the top ten in Practice 2), Petru Florescu and Raoul Hyman.

Friday brings two further practice sessions for the field before Race 1 gets underway at 4.25pm.
