Don't let the good looks fool you, Fortuner is built from the ground up to handle virtually any terrain or to perform smoothly and powerfully when travelling on the open road. The interior is filled with comfort and convienences that are sure to impress.

Bold. Redefined.

Walk around the Fortuner and you'll be amazed with its sharp, bold exterior.

The wide stance front grille, LED rear tailights, spoiler and black wheel arches gives instant street appeal - while the black rear glass panel makes this SUV instantly reconisable.

New 6-Speed Transmission with i-MT

To make the most of the new engine there’s a new 6-speed manual transmission on GX models – or you can go for the 6-speed automatic option if that’s your preference. The transmission has a smooth feel to it when you shift gears while a short gear lever offers more responsive gear changing.

i-MT is a new feature for some Toyota manual transmissions. It’s there to help you manage your revs and shift gears more smoothly. Useful off-road or when driving slowly around the city. With i-MT engaged (just hit the button to turn it on), you can gently lift your foot off the clutch and the vehicle maintains enough revs to avoid stalling. Pretty handy when you’re off road and pointing your Fortuner uphill.

Get up and go

With the same diesel engine as the Land Cruiser Prado and Hilux, you know you’re getting the best there is. The Fortuner has valuable 450Nm of torque (or 420Nm for the GX Manual) and 130kW of power. Overall, it’s a quiet, smooth powertrain, and when you put your foot down you know about it – because there’s very little turbo lag.

This Fortuner can tow

The Fortuner GX Manual has a maximum towing capacity of 3T (braked), which means that you can take a full load of passengers, a boot full of weight, as well as the additional 2700kg towing (figures must not exceed maximum payload of vehicle). Fortuner automatic models can tow up to 2,800kg (braked).

The Fortuner diesel engine holds the torque, which is why it thrives when towing trailers, boats or horse floats. Even in town the Fortuner's 420-450Nm of torque means it’s easier to accelerate away from traffic lights and sustain posted road speeds while carrying heavy loads in the boot.

The easy way to switch to 4WD

All Fortuner come with part time 4WD and an Automatically Disconnecting Differential (ADD), so you can switch to 4WD and back again at the switch of the dial. ADD also improves fuel consumption because there is less drag when the vehicle’s front wheels are not driving.

Then, low range can be selected for when the going gets really tough. The Fortuner's& Active Traction Control (A-TRC) system uses computer-controlled braking to control each wheel independently and distribute power to where it’s needed most. Also standard is a rear differential lock which, when locked, will distribute power evenly to both rear wheels giving you the confidence to get through.

Trailer Sway Control

Because there’s often the need to tow a load, Trailer Sway Control (TSC) is used to help keep the trailer from swinging side to side. It does this by providing appropriate braking and reduces engine power, if needed. It’s a reassuring thing to have when the loads are big, or the winds are high.

Be Seen

Fortuner GXL and Limited models features LED Bi-Beam headlights - meaning that the when the headlights are on, both the high and low beam project from the same bulb. This drastically enhances the distance your headlight can project. Fortuner GX models feature Bi-Halogen headlights.

No more 'boot meets ceiling' moments

With the power back door feature on Fortuner GXL and Limited models, you can open your boot, safe in the knowledge that it will stop at precisely the height you set it to. For even easier access, the Fortuner GXL and Limited smart key entry system enables you to open and close the boot at the push of a single, dedicated button, handily located on your smart key fob.

Seating for 7

suberb performer in the popular 7-seater class, the Fortuner also boasts revised ‘walk-in’ accessibility to the 3rd-row seating. The floor beneath the second row seats is scalloped, meaning that the 3rd-row passengers can slide their feet under the second row seats for greater individual comfort.

Need more space?

If you need room in the boot for the family holiday, the third row of seats have a 50:50 split and can unclip, fold up and vertically stow away.

The second row has 60:40 split and, and with the quick pull of the lever, they recline and tumble forward.

Safety - Top priority

Whether your Fortuner is for work or play – or a little of both – you’ll want the extra peace of mind that comes with a robust suite of safety measures onboard.
The 5- Star ANCAP safety-rated Fortuner line-up arrives with driver and passenger front, rear and side airbags, front and rear curtain shield airbags that reach the third row seats, reversing camera and much much more.

The importance of stability

Bolstering your ability to control the Fortuner both on and off road, the range also features side door impact bars and intuitive Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) ensuring safe cornering no matter what the conditions. Fortuner models with VSC also come with Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) Brake Assist (BA) for even more control.
