Toyota New Zealand recalls Camry and Aurion vehicles

Toyota New Zealand has announced a recall of its current model Camry, Camry Hybrid, and Aurion vehicles built between October 2011 and July 2012.

This follows a recall of the same vehicles in Australia, but only affects 1218 vehicles in New Zealand.

The recall is due to a fuel hose that may have been incorrectly manufactured, in some cases causing a small hole to develop, which may allow fuel to leak.

There have been three reports of this condition in Australia but none so far in New Zealand. No accidents have been reported.

Toyota New Zealand is asking owners to contact their preferred Toyota dealer as soon as possible to arrange an inspection and, if necessary, replacement of the fuel hose.

The inspection will take approximately 30 minutes and Toyota technicians will be able to easily confirm whether the condition exists. If a repair is necessary, this will be done at no cost to customers and take approximately one hour.

Letters are also being sent to affected owners asking them to make an appointment with their preferred Toyota dealer.
