Safety

The Prius' embrace of advanced technology extends to its sophisticated active and passive safety measures. Emergency brake lights warn following drivers of emergency braking manoeuvres while the comprehensive braking system helps you to avoid collisions. A full nine airbag package protects occupants in the event of an accident.

Exclusive to the i-Tech model, there's a dynamic radar cruise control system and pre-crash safety system to monitor the road ahead, reacting to avoid or mitigate collision damage.

Performance

Prius' innovative combination of driveability, fuel economy and low emissions has been achieved by Toyota's integration of an award-winning 1.8 litre Atkinson cycle petrol engine (high-speed power) and an electric motor (low-speed torque). We call this combined technology Hybrid Synergy Drive.

With three distinct driving modes, Prius lets you set the driving mode to suit your driving mood, or the on-road situation.

Appearance

Comfort and Convenience

Prius is Toyota's technological showcase. Inside, there's the world-first Touch Tracer Display which projects an image of the steering wheel buttons onto the multi information display as you touch them. There's also a Head Up Display system which shows your speed and/or the hybrid system indicator right on the inside of the windscreen.

Solar panels embedded in the i-Tech's roof power a solar ventilation system, keeping your Prius cool on even the hottest of summer days. A world first, the remote air conditioning system lets you activate the air conditioning before you get into the car, further reducing the interior temperature.

The Intelligent Parking Assist (IPA) system makes parallel and reversing parking a breeze. You Prius i-Tech detects an available parking space and controls the steering wheel. All you need to do is maintain a safe speed using the footbrake.

Economy

Toyota has refined the third generation Hybrid Synergy Drive system to create a lighter, more efficient system. Fuel economy is a truly impressive 3.9 litres per 100km while CO2 emissions are only 89 grams per litre.

EV mode lets you drive Prius with the electric motor only, up to around 50km/h. No fuel used. No emissions.

Using "Eco" mode you can reduce your fuel consumption by 10-15%.
